WHAT ABUGA HAD IN MIND
Ever since I started skating, boards with mellow, comfortable concave have been the most enjoyable to me. When Shangang approached me about Project 254, I knew exactly what I wanted. With my input and Shangang’s technical expertise, we were able to design a platform true to my tastes, but with features any skater can enjoy. The front features a simple, mellow elliptical concave with a subtle taper in the width. The rear combines mellow rocker, a mild drop, and mellow W to form a pocket for the riders back foot. These features have been designed with maximal adaptability and comfort in mind. I wanted something that allowed me to comfortably skate various trucks, wheels, and try all sorts of accessories, but that didn’t hold me back when I needed maximum performance. I think we nailed it.
Pressed-in wheel wells will give you plenty of clearance for big wheels and maximizes rigidity, while the flush mount drops your setup lower for extra stability at speed.”
Wedged tails give you better toeside positioning, while a mellow W concave keeps your back foot locked in when sliding on grippy wheels.
A tasteful taper not only adds leverage over the trucks but also keeps the overall aesthetic clean and balanced.
